We are all going to die, and we know it. We run from the very thought of it. Until late in life, and even then, we suppress the gnawing subconscious notion of our death, which is constantly trying to surface for its own clear air.  As Daniel Cossins, features writer

**(NOTE: quotation marks in the story are direct quotes of text taken from Oren Harman’s outstanding book; Evolutions: Fifteen Myths That Explain Our World.)  In a time when the President is the most prolific and persistent liar in the American public, not that many other public figures haven’t lied, an inquiring

#9 A New Human?

Posted on April 14, 2019 by Diana Roberts

The difference between religion and science is that science never stops asking questions and seeking legitimate answers no matter where they lead. Religion fears those answers and tries to subvert them.  No, science isn’t perfect and at times it can used for evil purposes, but as long as the scientific method is

#8 Life and Death as We Evolve

Posted on April 5, 2019 by Diana Roberts

It was mitochondrion that got sex and gender rolling by letting out a nervous burst of toxic free radicals emanating from its electron transport chain. However, things changed once multicellular life came around. What is a “Mitochondrion?” It is a small, spherical to rod-shaped, membrane-bounded cytoplasmic organelle, the principal

#7 Looking Back & Forward

Posted on March 27, 2019 by Diana Roberts

As we look back at ourselves over hundreds of thousands of years, we see huddled around their fires our ancestors were being transformed. In order to live together amicably, they had no choice but to develop trust. As a result guilt was born, and --- as the numbers grew –

Posted on March 6, 2019 by Diana Roberts

Ancient DNA is the relatively new study of evolution by taking ancient plants, animal and human remains, extracting the DNA and looking for the timeliness of mutations. The speed at which the ancient DNA revolution is moving is exhilarating although the broadness of the tasks are daunting. However, the

Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin and development of human beings — (human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process, human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process, (or) God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so)?

#2 The Creationism History of Belief

Posted on January 25, 2019 by Glen Aaron

A Creationist is one who believes in a divine creator of earth and living things. A creationist does not ask where did this divine creator come from, or how was he created, or who created him? The belief does not necessarily imply anything about how the Earth and its inhabitants were brought into existence. Many Christians, as do some Islamists, consider themselves creationists while believing that God has worked through the process of evolution. Others, particularly Protestant fundamentalists believe that creation occurred strictly in six days, fixity of species, young Earth, global flood, and the impossibility of understanding any mechanisms of Creation as translated from the old Hebrew texts. The popularity of this strict interpretation encountered a movement boost in the United States in the 1960s with the founding of the Jehovah Witness sect and the resurgence of the apostolic religion in the United States. The proselytism of this resurgence has reached its peak, today, in public schools and the electoral process of representatives. Creationists have become a forceful influence in the populace, and unfortunately, the movement, both through its churches and through its extra-church mission has no respect for the First amendment or scientific reasoning…..

“Nothing in biology makes sense,” wrote geneticist Theodosius Dobzhansky, “except in light of evolution.” Today, every branch of the life sciences, from biochemistry and botany to zoology, has an evolutionary underpinning. We are so use to what the science of evolution has assisted in producing that we hardly notice: DNA “fingerprinting in the courtroom, bioengineering of livestock and plants in agriculture, medical strategies to combat resistant strains of bacteria, conservation programs for endangered species, growing awareness of planetary ecology, and more. It is all joined together by the basic, shared assumption: the idea of evolution. Only 150 years ago, it was considered unscientific and vaguely immoral.
