Daniel H. Holeva (Danny) is the Executive Director of the Arts Council of Midland and a painter in his own right in mediums of chalk pastel, mixed media and oil.
He has a BA in art from UTPB and an MFA from Texas Tech in painting and drawing with a minor in art history. As Director of the Arts Council of Midland, he directs the annual studio tour, November 19th, the highly acclaimed Midland Celebration of The Arts, the third weekend in May each year, and the Windland Park Sculpture Garden. The chalk pastel, above, while representative of Danny’s work is personal to me and my wife, Jane Hellinghausen, because it is a drawing of us at a party some years ago as she sat on my lap. Interestingly, we had no idea Danny had done this drawing until we saw it as a complete surprise at one of Danny’s showings at a gallery in Odessa. Of course, we had to have it immediately.
The motto of the arts council is “enriching lives with the Arts!” Indeed, under Danny’s direction that is exactly what has been provided to Midland and surrounding community.
